SITE USE CONDITIONS
Use these pages to understand a subject and prepare better questions—not as authority to alter a building’s access or safety arrangements.
Operator and scope
This website is operated by Ottercloudyorchrd Ltd, 16 Colmore Row, Birmingham B3 2BH, United Kingdom, company no. 14697285. These conditions apply to our editorial pages and local enquiry preparation tool. Questions can be sent to [email protected].
Information, not a professional service
Content is general information. It is not a site audit, installation specification, legal opinion, fire-risk assessment, certification or security guarantee. It does not establish a professional adviser-client relationship. Obtain competent, building-specific advice before purchasing, configuring or modifying access equipment or associated systems.
Connected technology does not eliminate risk. Standards, product capabilities and legal requirements can change, and requirements differ by jurisdiction and building. Check current primary sources and the actual installation. Do not modify escape routes, releases, locks or fire interfaces on the basis of these pages.
Responsible use
Use the website lawfully. Do not attempt unauthorised access, interfere with its operation, introduce malicious content or use the material to facilitate bypassing building controls. Do not submit credentials, private access logs, sensitive building details or personal information that you have no right to disclose.
For lockouts, equipment faults and urgent safety concerns, contact the building’s authorised team or appropriate emergency service. Our editorial inbox is not monitored as an emergency channel and we do not promise response times.
The local enquiry tool
The tool generates text in your browser. Preview, copying and downloading do not send a message to us. You are responsible for reviewing the content and choosing whether to send it through your own email service. Browser permissions, clipboard support and download settings may affect availability. Keep any downloaded files and copied information secure.
Accuracy and availability
We aim to explain the topic carefully, but do not warrant that every page is complete, current or suitable for a particular purpose. We may correct, update or remove material. Website access may be interrupted. Report a suspected error with the page address and a relevant public source through our Contact page.
Intellectual property and external references
Website text and design are protected by applicable intellectual-property rights. You may read, link to and make reasonable personal reference copies. Wider republication, commercial reuse or redistribution requires permission unless permitted by law. Third-party names, standards and marks belong to their respective owners.
External links are provided for context. We do not control their content, availability or privacy practices. References to organisations and protocols do not imply affiliation, sponsorship, endorsement or certification. We are not affiliated with the standards bodies mentioned.
Liability and applicable law
To the extent permitted by law, we are not responsible for loss arising from reliance on general content instead of appropriate professional advice, or from third-party services outside our control. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, including liability for fraud or for death or personal injury caused by negligence.
These conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales, subject to mandatory rights that apply where you live. Nothing here removes consumer protections or court rights that cannot lawfully be restricted.
Privacy and changes
Read the separate Privacy notice and Cookies page. Updated conditions will be published on this page. A change does not retrospectively remove rights you already hold.
